A man in his 30s is being treated in hospital after being stabbed in the leg as a free concert featuring celebrity singers was taking place in Soho.
American rapper Latto was among singers performing at an event on Greek Street as the attack unfolded in broad daylight.
The victim has been taken to hospital although his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
Pictures of the incident showed several police vehicles and a cordon in place around the wider area as crowds watched on to see what happened.
Crowds had already gathered in the area due to the musical event, which also included appearances from hip-hop artist Krept and DJ AG.
No arrests have yet been made and officers are currently reviewing CCTV footage in order to piece events together.
An investigation is now underway, although police believe the incident to be isolated, with no further threat to the public.
A statement from Metropolitan Police said: ‘At 16:28hrs on Thursday, 23 July, Met officers were called by the London Ambulance Service to attend Greek Street, Soho, following reports of a stabbing.
‘At the scene a man in his 30s was treated by paramedics and taken to hospital with a stab wound to the leg. His condition has since been confirmed as non-life-threatening and non-life-changing.
‘There were no other reported injuries.’
Inspector Hannah Woodfield, who polices central west London, said ‘We understand news of this evening’s incident will be concerning for those visiting central London and of course the local community.’
‘Met officers will remain in the Soho area for the rest of the evening, carrying out additional controls. If you have any questions or concerns, do feel free to approach us’, she added.
