A man has been left critically injured following an assault on a bus on Oxford Street on Tuesday evening.
The incident involving the 25-year-old passenger occurred following an argument on board, and is now receiving treatment at a hospital in a critical condition after sustaining ‘serious head injuries’.
Police say they are investigating a man in his mid 20s with black curly hair and a beard, who left the bus following the altercation and headed towards Oxford Circus tube station with an as yet unidentified woman.
Part of the road is still cordoned off after the incident which took place on a Number 94 bus.
Detective Chief Inspector Michael Douglas said: “At this early stage it appears the victim sustained his injuries as a result of blunt force.
“But, however the injuries were inflicted, we now have a young man critically ill in hospital and we are appealing for information.
“I would like to thank those people on the bus who have already come forward, but we also need to trace these people went after they left the bus.
“Anyone driving along Oxford Circus or Regents Street with any dash cam footage, please check the footage for the people described.”
